I tried to organized my cabinet this week because it's starting to look like a dump site of clothes. While doing that, I spotted my old jeans which I last wore in high school so I thought of repairing and turning them to Bermuda shorts. I did that as if its summer here in Manila, but who cares!
Here are my outputs! My "DIY shorts".
So what I did was, basically, cut the pants to my desired length. Since my pants were a little baggy, I cut the hem on the inner side; including the crotch area. I folded and pinned the side I cut up to the crotch. Then, I hand-sew it, which is the most difficult part (since I don't have a machine). I folded the bottom part and added those studs to hold them and make it a little flashy.
This one was fresh out of the oven. I just finished it right before I post this entry. I pretty much did the same steps I took with the first one.
Voila! I have, well not really new, but reconstructed items on my closet without spending a peso. All you need is a handful of creativity, resourcefulness and patience.
And one more thing I like about chopping off old pants are the extra fabrics. Now I have raw materials that I can use to construct another DIY stuff, probably a pouch or a bag. That's something you should watch out for.
If you reach this part, thank you for reading. See you next time!
