I just really can't get enough of the Ana Kendrick's audition piece in the movie Pitch Perfect so I made a cover of it. Here! Hope you like it!

Faux Covers

It's been weeks or about a month since the last time I posted something on this blog. I've been very busy with some important things that I need to deal with. Busy that allotting time for my "artsy artsy" thingy was really a luxury. But anyhow, I'm here and posting stuffs that I think are wonderful.

Part of the list of my dream jobs includes working in the art department of a magazine and so I made these false magazine covers using an application for iOS called Instafonts. I just grabbed the photos of these wonderful celebrities and models that I love from Tumblr and just added these very cool font styles with different colors and textures to it. The texts are just really random. I just put on what comes to my mind and that's it. 

So, here. Check out my outputs.

DIY Bagelya

Here comes another do-it-yourself stuff I made just recently. A bag. 100% hand-made!

Remember all those three pants I cropped and turned into shorts on my previous posts? These are the extra fabrics I got. And since I've got lots of time on hand, I decided to construct a bag.

I started by looking for a peg, sort of inspiration and I found this on Tumblr.

Basically, I started with the base and used the dark denim fabric. I maximized the amount of fabric I have. I just made some rectangular patterns and drew some lines that will be my guide in cutting them and allowances where I will be placing the stitches. 

The base should appear like an open and elongated cube which has corners. The cut-outs that I have was then assembled by hand sewing them to come up with something like what you're seeing on my photo below.

For the two sides of the bag, I used the textured fabric and made two pairs of trapezoidal-shape patterns on it.

These trapezoidal patterns are then cut in between and stitched together on their straight sides.

Again, using the textured fabric, I cut out 2 long strips where in the two sides of the zipper will be attached.

For the face of the bag, I used the khaki fabric. I based its measurement from the length of the base that I made.

After having all the pieces needed, I assembled them together and secure them with pins just to make sure that everything is in place. After pinning and checking, it's time to sew. I hand sew every sides using threads which colors are near to the shades of my fabric.

Just like what you see on the inspiration, the goal is to make the bag look stitched at all sides.

After sewing all the sides, I attached these hoops on each side of the bag. I got these from an old leather bag that I don't use anymore.

These two hoops should be stitched toughly because they will be carrying the load of the bag so I sew them for five rounds.

It should look like this!

And of course, the sling. Also, I got that from an old bag. You can actually use the detachable slings of your other bags for as long as it will complement the colors of your bag.

So here's how the bag looks like after all the cutting, assembling and stitching. Pretty nice, eh? 

For it not to look so plain, I added this accent which you usually see on some cool Herschel bags. 

And finally, here's my output!

I actually intend to add handles to it, I just don't have the material yet, but I will.

And on my way to my review session this morning, the strength of the bag was tested. I placed two books, a bottle of water, calculator, some personal stuff inside it, plus the pushing, squeezing and jamming inside the public bus earlier. It's still alive!

Pretty happy about it, really!

DIY shorts with a twist

Last Friday,  I was able to convince my mom to switch closets with me; and new closet would mean reorganizing my clothes and some other stuff. As I was doing that, I spotted an old, retro-ish textured pants which I last wore four years ago for a singing contest. And you know me, just like on my previous posts, I turn old and useless stuff to something more now and useful. And so, I cropped it again and added a little twist to it.

Of course, you will just be needing cutting tool, markers, thread, pins, a needle or fabric glue , measuring tape and Frank Ocean, Beyonce, Lana del Rey and Rihanna on the background.

Similar to what I've done on my previous posts, I just measured and place markings on the pants where I want to cut it. For a better determination of how short would you like to crop your pants, wear it then place a visible mark on just one side. And since pants are and should be symmetrical, just base the measurement of the other side to the one you marked.

You can draw a line on both side that will serve as your guide in cutting.

Then, cut it.

Now here comes the more laborious but interesting part. I had this idea from this cute lad I follow on Twitter and Tumblr who happened to be a lifestyle writer for a local newspaper.

Here it goes, the fun part. All you have to do is to get extra fabric which has contrasting patterns or texture to your base, which is your cropped pants. In my case, I got this fabric from my sister's old swimwear.

Basically, all you have to do is to wrap around the fabric at the bottom part of the short (which you intend to fold outward once you wear it) at the wrong side. Use a thread with the nearest color to your fabric so it would appear invisible.Sew each sides.

Once done with one side, try it on. If you find no problem with it, just do the same steps on the other side, since, as I said, it should be symmetrical.

Voila! Here's my output! After about 3 hours of cutting and sewing, I came out with a new item on my closet without spending a peso. Unique, stylish and functional.

You should try it too! You just got to have a handful of creativity and patience.

My Style Icon

I am a fan of people who are fashion-forward; those who wear types of clothes that will certainly stand out from the crowd. I have an overflowing appreciation towards them for the effort and creativity that they have to express and show who they are without even speaking.

Everyone has their own fashion icons. I follow a blogger whose style icons are Kanye West and James Dean, and it really shows. He really dresses similar to them with a bit of his personal spice. So I thought, who is my fashion icon? I figured it out easily.

Harry Styles, as he said, he is the "1/5 of One Direction".

I am totally digging his fashion sense and I really think it comes with his last name. lol! It's hip, young and very out-going.

I personally assess the way he dresses up and I have come to the conclusion that Harry Styles fashion sense is two faced: relaxed and sharp.

I really love how Harry Styles dresses so differently during a normal day and in times that he is in the limelight with his group.

On a normal day, Harry wears basic, relaxed and lite knit wears, shirts and tees, even over-sized ones, partnered with straight-cut or at times slim-fit trousers, dessert boots or sneakers and beanie.

Quite noticeably, he also loves layering; a plain tee inside partnered with a nice coat or shirt on top.

Now here comes the second face, the sharp.

In formal gatherings, awards night or during performances with his group, I usually notice Harry wearing coats which are a size or two smaller that his to attain that sharp look and it really works.

One more thing I love about the way Harry Styles dresses is the fact that it is wearable here in Manila, considering the type of weather that we have here. And now that I have my fashion icon, I will always take into consideration that I'm not going away with his style when shopping for clothes.

With all these things said and shown, I also believe that Harry's messy-looking hair adds more magic to his entire look.

Typography

If there's one thing I would like to be a master of, it will be Photoshop.

In this day and age, being able to play around with the magic that comes with Photoshop is certainly an edge. Right now, I consider myself as an amateur since I can only do minimal editing. but I'm learning.

I am currently so fond of edited photos of breathe-taking sceneries into which humorous or catchy statements are added. I did some of my own. Found this awesome photos on Tumblr and tried editing them. Here are my outputs.

Emma Stone on Interview Mag September 2012 Issue

Weeks back, I posted some of the covers of the known fashion magazine for their September Issue. We've got Gaga, Katy, Gwen and Vicky for Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar and Glamour, respectively. And this came a little delayed. Since I am such a big fan, to the point that I even volunteer myself to be her soul sister, I'm making this post.

Emma Stone is on the cover of USA's Interview Magazine for the month of September.

The actress is looking seductive on the cover photographed by Mikael Jansson.

She shares her inspiration as an actress and expressed her desire to be a kind of actor who can pull out humor out of the dramatic moments.
